NEW for us, the cinnamon vine was once used by native American people for their tasty tubers.

Cinnamon vines could be left to naturalize in your woodland garden where they would be most at home, they are highly decorative, hardy climbing perennials that are happy to scramble through trees or over walls, seeking out the sun but doing well in dappled shade.

Equally at home in an organised vegetable plot, where harvesting the tubers would be a lot easier though they will need some support like your runner beans. They do not seem to be fussy about soil so long as they do not dry out, so plenty of organic matter will increase your crop.

The tubers can be eaten raw or cooked, and have a lovely sweet potato flavour.
