A must for conservatory or large windowsill, the natal plum is a slightly spiny shrub from South Africa.
Very attractive, the natal plum
has small shiny leaves and large, star like fragrant white flowers, which have a scent similar to orange blossom and can appear any time of the year.
The large plum like fruits should hopefully follow though you will have to hand pollinate. Being abouit 5 cm in size and purpley/red in colour, they are eaten raw if fully ripe or cooked if not.
