Rowan (Sorbus aucuparia)

A well known and attractive native, rowan is a medium sized tree which will go well in any garden and is especially good for wildlife.
Umbels of frothy white blossom are lovely for people and bees in the late spring, and the scarlet berries ripen through the mid to late summer and rowan
is an absolute favourite of the blackbirds and thrushes round here.
You can make a jelly though it is rather bitter, I think they are better left for the birds as a distraction, hopefully then they will leave your raspberries and currants alone...
