The hardy kiwiis a useful relative of the more common kiwi and much easier to grow.
As a climber the hardy kiwi
is not so vigorous as its cousin and this varietyIssaiis self-fertile so only the one is needed for fruit, though we are hoping to stock males and females in the future.
Here it will grow well on an east or even north facing wall, not fussy about soil, and very hardy being a native of Japan and Siberia.
The fruit is about the size of a gooseberry, but smooth and thin skinned making peeling unnecessary, and with the sharp fresh flavour of the kiwi when fully ripe.
